I just purchased 16oz of whitecap to go into battle with my mosquito fern. My pond is a lil over a half acre with average depth fo 4 to 5 feet. It is about half covered with mosquito fern. I read where you mix it in sprayer and stick the nozzle under the water and spray in a few places around the pond. I have a hose that runs from my pier to one of my diffusers on my aeration system. I use it to pour aqua shade or cutrine into s they get disperesed by the bubbles. Im wondering if this would be a good way to disperse whitecap because its way easier than using the sprayer. thanks tz

I see you're still waiting.

I don't recommend doing that because I think you'll end up with fluridone in the airline that won't dissipate in the water unless you 1) don't have a check valve in the system and 2) turn the compressor on and off to allow water to fill up the airline.

What about just mixing your Whitecap and dumping it into the boil from the diffuser? The water circulates as a result of the diffuser and that movement should carry the Whitecap everywhere.

not in the air line, when I installed the aerator i installed a 1 1/2" hose that runs from the pier and the end is tied off at the diffuser. I use it for pouring chemicals, like aquashade, into the bubble column. I dont just pour it in the air line.

Dang, that's a lot of vegetation! Is that color how it normally appears, or did it come about after the treatment?

Todd - that's the typical coloration of mosquito fern (aka azolla).

I would think grass carp would enjoy munching on that... too late now but if you stock them before it gets a grip on your pond they will help you out a lot in the future.

It went from no fern to a little fern to how do I kill it. Then by the time I got some reward in the mail it was full blown. In Louisiana the fish delivery people don't do any deliveries in the heat of summer. I am going to try and add some in fall

I left for a fishing trip Thursday afternoon and the pond still had azolla covering almost the whole top. We came home Sunday afternoon and there is no azolla in sight anywhere. It all must have died and sunk. I have had my aeration system running 24/7 since I started trying to kill this stuff. I havent seen any dead fish. Now all I have is a little FA to take care of. I will post pics when I get to take some.

From what I remember, Whitecap is no longer being made, it was bought out by another company that discontinued making it under that trade name. The active ingredient in Whitecap is Fluridone.
