Pond Boss Forums INTRO Questions & Observations Staining dock ov pond

First things first. How neat it was to see how many people were viewing when I logged on for the first time in years. I can remember when the would be only a few viewing, tonight 81 in just this one. Very cool. Nice work to the bosses.
We have stained the dock with a standard stain. Unfortunatly it's a oil based stain and now for almost 2 weeks there has been a viewable slick. Have we done any damage? What should we do?
Our pond is about 2.5 acres in WV.

I would think manual removal would be best, but now that it's been two weeks that may not be an option. How widespread is the slick?

Toss a couple ducks in. They soak up oil great.

I think geese would soak up more.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. It's such a small amount compared to the water volume, there's gotta be a bacteria getting ready to eat it. Isn't that what happened with the residual oil from the Valdez?

It's taking up an area about 100 x 50. I was hoping that it would be gone in a few days after the wind blue. However it has not yet

It is probably for the most part dry, should eventually just blow off or be washed ashore on a windy day. I wouldn't worry about it.
