Just thinking about taking my ponds temp with a thermometer. I'd like to do the bottom in the deepest part of the pond, midway up in the water column, and near the surface. Problem is, I don't have a boat to get out to the deep water so I can send a thermometer down.
Would it work to place a thermometer in a 20 ounce water bottle fillied with water, toss it out on a line and allow it to sink to the bottom, then soak it there for a few hours and pull it in for the temp?
Any thoughts or other ideas?
