I was at work wondering what to do with my duckweed problem, So I fabbed up a aluminum frame, added some swim noodles and screen. It worked pretty well for a hour worth of work to build the frame, took longer to lash the screen on. It worked pretty well. Could I improve on it ..yep. I'd like to find heavier screen, I poked a hole on a stick. I thought I was gonna drag it. that ended up not making any sense. So I put the trolling motor on, and with my Son at the helm, I held it out fwd and we made passes. When we started it was as thick as pea soup, and didn't seem like we were getting anywhere, After dumping it several times, my Wife came out and said wow it really thinned out. After a couple more passes we called it a night, 1 1/2 hours all together, I'll let the wind gather it again and make another pass or two. I'm gathering things for a aeriation system to help. Thanks

That was some serious duckweed. Our friend n8ly has (had?) a really unique floating hippo that sucked floating stuff into a big bag that works a lot like your device.

Thanks, I like his rope idea better than some I've seen. I'd like to see that "hippo". This stuff isn't that easy to rake out. I lay a tarp out and park a couple of wheelbarrels on top. One thing I like about it is that it gathers it in one spot to get it out of
the water.

Frogholler, thank you for the skimmer idea as I fab'd one out of 1x2's since my welder isn't set up for aluminum, but it's working great. I added a photo of it and also the rope idea that I'm just getting put together. I just need to add the floats and put it to work. I've got 2 acres and a ton of DW so we'll see how it works.

Last Monday I got the aeration system up and running and up to 8 hours on my startup. Lots of work, having fun doing it and hoping for a good recovery on a good old pond!

Thanks, thats great. What ever gets the job done. Looks like a nice pond, that DW is a real pain, constant battle. I'm up to 6 hrs. now, the DW seems to be growing back at a slower rate, hoping so anyway. Haven't needed the scum buster since the intitial clean up, been getting the rest with a long telescoping pool net with a leaf net. Now I need something to keep the herons out, Good luck with your battle.
