Notice that the nicer BG's in my pond have taken up residence on my beach and have several nests built with fish on them. I don't really notice any other BG nests along the banks of my pond and only a few RES nesting along the banks, and there are certainly enough breeding sizes 'gills in the pond, besides my beach dwellers, to set up housekeeping and hatch fry.
My question is: Do the biggest BG's in a system tend to colonize the best nesting areas in that system. I guess what I'm really asking is: If I remove the fish that are not nesting and keep the bigger specimens, am I making a mistake?
