Tiger Shrimp

I am betting they came in via the live seafood market for the Asian community. Most believe that is how the northern snakehead found its way into the Potomac River in the Washington, DC area.

I live in jacksonville near the mayport shrimping village. They have been catching small numbers of the tiger shrinp for several years now. No notable large increas in numbers. Little differant than that article reads. But scare tacktics make for good reading. I read that a college in NC lost a bunch out of a reasearch project into the atlantic. They might be doing better on the gulf side than they are in the atlantic though....They do get pretty large...Good eats...
I bet the shrimpers would not mind catching them instead of the smaller native shrinps...Maybe they released them....???

the crabers up in the st johns river brackish/fresh water catch those giant fresh water prawns in crab traps too. A friend of mine caught one while shrimping from his dock last year.
