Got fert. from local store (perfect pond 10-34-0). I applied a week ago then found a problem with the spillway that was basically flushing the pond constantly. I have fixed the problem and no water has ran out of the pond in over a week and the pond is filling up to the orginal bank. Lots of marsh grass in the water now and lawn that has begin to grow there over the years (i acquired pond last year) The pond seems to be booming with life and im wondering do i need to go ahead and fertilize again since ive gained so much water. My water looks dark but is acutally a brownish tint and generally clear. Should I fertilize or 3 or 4 days earlier, my water has really cleared up in last couple of days? Perfect pond calls for every two weeks

Go slowly adding a little at a time over 3 weeks until you get a bloom. What is your water temp and alkalinity ?

See this from the archive.

What type would be recomended for someone needing to add it from the bank and the ponds range from 1/4 acre to 3/4 acre.

Thanks

Where in SC is your pond? Need to know your water quality, primarily alkalinity to be sure fertilization will be effective. You also mentioned 'marsh grass'- if you have aquatic vegetation, depending on the type and amount, you may be fertilizing the vegetation especially if you have low alkalinity. While we see alot of black water ponds with good water quality, we see equally as many with low pH, low alkalinity and hardness which will negate fertilization efforts.
