How can i get through this stick there is more soil underneath but there are some rock spots

Save plenty of good quality clay in a stockpile....bust through the rock to a depth AT LEAST 2 feet deeper than you want your water depth and line all exposed rock in 6" lifts and compact each lift very well at least 2 feet thick...3 feet or more is better over exposed broken rock to prevent leaks.

I know a guy over this way, that told the excavator "not to stop until he had 22ft.. Same thing hit shale, guess what? He has no pond anymore! He had a 2 acre pond and he wanted deeper. They tried for 2 summers trying to plug it. No luck so he gave up. The contractor warned him before hand.
