The past 2 winters have been really cold and ive lost all my treadfin shad. Well so far this winter they were doing fine. Except for the HSB and LMB feasting on them. Last weekend water temps had made it into the low 60's now this weekend they have fell down to 50 already and its supposed to go down to 22 tonight. I hope they can get deep enough and survive the next couple of days.

Water cools slowly at depth so maybe they will be ok.

I walked down to the pond this morning and didnt see any floating. Supposed to go back to 55 today and them 60's the rest of the week.
I hate having to restock them every year. Funny thing is my dad put them in his pond 6 years ago and has never had to restock, and his pond is only 2 acres and 6 ft deep. Mine is 20 ft deep so you would think they would survive better.

Jes our water temp was so high this last week the brutual cold should not harm them. It was 17 here but no ice on the ponds at all versus a fine sheet several times earlier this year after a couple cold days. I tell clients in north GA might lose your shad every 6-8 years but we had brutual cold winters back to back until this year. You should be good.

I hope so Greg, Last week the HSB and LMB where busting like crazy and knocking the shad out of the water. I have been catching some much better looking bass this year compared to other years. I dont know if its some of the ones you stocked last year or just having shad still alive but i caught 5 out of one spot last week and all of them had relative weights above 95%. Theres still some skinny bass around the bank but the ones out in deeper water feeding on shad look great!
