My 1 acre pond gets covered with duckweed during the summer months. Will blue dye help keep this stuff from appearing? There is a headwall under the road which brings in all runoff from neighboring properties, so controlling the nutrients entering the pond is not possible.

A blue dye is likely to do nothing for a surface floating plant though it will suppress submerged aquatic plants, raising nutrient levels for duckweed to thrive, lol

Goldfish, koi, carp will gobble up duckweed when it starts up early in Spring.

I added aeration & a small fountain to my small pond, which had no movement to the water. Since, I haven't had any problem with it coming back due to the moving water.

My pond was up against a small personal pasture of goats & pigs before the lady moved with them, so I am sure the run off from them wasn't helping.

I worked most of the spring and summer with a rake and net to get rid of the DW on my pond. Just couldnt stay arhead of it. I added an aerator, then limed my pond. It helped slow it some, but this stuff is tenatious. We have cows on it so I had tobe carefull what i poisened it with. I finally tried white cap.

The first 2 weeks, nothing. then about the 3rd week you could see a few brown spots here and there. by week 6 it was gone. good stuff IMO.

I was also given some pond dye to control algea from taking advantage of the free nutrient in the pond. by the end of the summer I had a nice pretty pond with green water.
