what kind of minnow is this?
I know these are'nt the best pictures, but wondering if anyone can identify these minnows. I think the first one might be a creek chub. I have an idea about the second, but want other thoughts.

the belly on the first one looks more like that that you would see on a fathead female minnow, given the size and color too. But it is affle shiny and distorts the image a little so it is hard to tell.
The second lookd like a type of shiner, but still too young or just developeing, guessing because of the transparency.
Did you catch them out of a creek? Any other pics??

In the first photo, not having the tail in the photo makes ID almost impossible as that is a key feature in IDing closely related species. The second photo is very grainy and doesn't show much detail again making 100% ID a challenge. Where geographically were they species caught and in what type body of water... With that info, I can give you a better guess.

CJ i'll try to get a better photo of the first fish since I just caught some more today. I was really wondering about the second one. I caught it in the same stream in charles county that I caught the last minnow that you said was a eastern silvery minnow. I thought by comparing photos's that it looked like a bridle shiner which I read was an endangered species in maryland. Do u think I could be right?

I've collected a number of areas in MD and never caught a bridle shiner. That fish isn't one I'm nearly certain. Many species look very similar so good quality photos which show the whole fish are imperative.
