My pond ( a little more than 1 acre) currently only has 4-6 inches of visibility and hardly any vegetation that I can tell. I am wanting to fertilize my pond but not to sure what type of fertilizer I need, if it is the right time to apply it or if it would even do any good due to the visibility. The pond is located in Texas south of Dallas and I have not measured the temp but I am sure it is over 60 degrees.

Lance, if that is your visibility, what is the low visibility from, turbidity or a plankton bloom? How did you measure the visibility?

What makes you believe it needs fertilizer?
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

About 2-3 weeks ago we did some dirt work to the bank. Beavers had dug all underneath it and the ground was caving in. Ever since then the water has been very dirty and has not shown any improvement. Even prior to the work the water has alway been murky. By reading a few other post about the need for vegetation and how my pond lacked any I thought I would see about fertilizing it. Will aeration increase the visibility in a pond? I have been considering a windmill aerator.

It sounds like you have a turbidity problem. Search for a thread "Alum kicks Clay butt" or something like that. Be prepared for a long read, but you need to resolve the turbidity issue before doing anything else. Aeration won't help.
