Just before the holiday weekend I restocked the pond.

After a long winter and a frozen soild pond, I only lost a rainbow and two PSs. The rainbow had wintered over for two years, so I was sad to lost it. I still haven't seen the other PSs, but the weather has been really cold with snow on Saturday.

Replenished the pond with (22) 6-8" bows and (4) 8-10" brookies. Not bad for $25 from my local hatchery. It's the first time I have put brookies in, so will see how long they last into the year.



After I stocked, I placed in the waterfall pump for areation. After startup I was surprised to see a white cloud appear on the surface and spread over he pond. This was the first I have ever seen this happen. Was it from the dead zone on the pond bottom? It cleared up the following day after a night rain.

My thinking is it's just some debris/residue issues that built up since you last ran the pump.

Yeah trout are relatively cheap compare to buying other species!

Good luck with your trout scruffy, the pond looks great with water in it, hope your water levels hold.

The pond is in it's fifth year and I hope the ledge hole didn't open more with the total freeze up. So far the level has maintained steady with the rain/snow and cool weather. We will see come July, if it will hold water.

Have you decided on any possible cures?, or just see how it does by itself.
Are you planning on stocking PS's too or just stay with trout?

I'm going to restock with some BGs if I can. I found a real hot pond last year with some incredibly big BGs. That won't happen for a couple of weeks, it's a hard place to get into and you need a canoe.

The trout are doing fine, only I can't get them to come to pellets. They are searching the shore for tadpoles and nymphs. Last years fish were all over pellets from the begining. I haven't seen the brookies, only once since I put them in, but the bows are all over the place.
