Here is the link to the small deck I just built. I have a bench on it now but I want to remove it and do one of those dock bench kits. That aluim. bench just does not go with the dock. The wife unit really likes it and now wants a cover on it. I still need to seal it. I also need some rain to fill the pond again. http://www.pondboss.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showgallery&Number=239134#comments

Looks nice passgas55. But what's the raised earth leading to the pond? Reminds of the movie Tremors.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Looks like a pathway (flagstones?) may go there... You can see where he has a couple of steps planned to go down to the same level as the deck.

I made a walk way out of the dirt I dug. The step sides are set into the bank with about 80# of redi mix. They are 3 teir and are 30" out and 24" high. 7" rise. also rebar in the sides. The top of the steps measure 11" by 24". The top is 21" by 24" all have rebar and every thing is 1.5" thick. To hold the top of the steps in place is a 4"x4" concrete in dead center of each step except top has 2 4x4. Then I have 4.5" x 3/8 gal lag screws going from top of steps into 4x4( I took into acount the lag screws by using 1/2" plastic conduit threw the steps when pouring them. Also i use some grout between sides and top to take any rocking out of steps. It all worked considering I had no clue to what I was doing. Just an idea I had. The walk way is built up with clay from the pond and then I made pavers 9x24 with 6" gap going to 12x12 paver then repeat. gravel filled between the pavers. The walk way is 12.5' not counting the steps.Between the dock and steps/walkway I have about $250 invested not counting my labor which is cheap. With my wife saying she likes it is priceless. Clear as mud? Also note that there are 4 pics in the link.
