Hello folks!! Just thought I'd share a bit about my recent pond renovation. I'm a brand new pond owner, I recently bought a property that had an existing 2.5 acre pond on it, found this site and it all started here..

http://www.pondboss.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=225443#Post225443

The Pond had some serious issues with cattails so much to the point I felt that mechanical removal was in order and my best option. The banks of the pond were plenty steep and had silted in quite a bit over the last 50 years.

Here is a pic of the pond before we started with the cattail removal..

Pretty good time being made, as far as the cattail removal they were 3/4 around the pond in one day, removing cattails by the root and all!!

One thing I found out about my pond is that at the overflow pipe (in the dam) it was leaking at the 90 degree 8 inch elbow fitting, so the pond was constantly 5 foot low, we located the problem and fixed it installing a new pipe and clean-out and even raising the level 2 foot higher than it had been previously to accommodate the new contours and coves added to the pond.
