I have always been fascinated by fish. As a youth I always had nice aquariums. One thing I always wanted to do was raise fish in a pond.

I have some small kiddie pools of goldfish that are doing well and am interested in raising fish on a larger scale. I been looking into talapia. I live an hour from death valley. It's hot as hell here in the summer but I've seen ice form on small puddles in winter and even across my shallow above ground rock pond. But it's always melted by mid morning.

Surfsteve,

Welcome.

We've got a forum member who grows BIG fish in a small pond in Phoenix. We've got another member who overwinters eventual trophy fish in his basement during the frozen northern winters.

I believe there are lots of options. Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions, and to pose lots of ideas.

Ken

I have shipped a couple orders to people in Death Valley. They are kept outdoors, but the people had back-up heating available for cold weather.
