Pond Boss Forums AERATION Should I aerate? Aeration question?

I was aerating 24/7 and have cut bact to 12 hrs a day because this time of year my elec bill can get up there , seems like the ac runs 24/7. My schedule is 3 hours from 11 am to 2pm, i chose this time because it seems to be the hottest part of the day and i was trying to circulate some of the cooler water that is deeper. I dont know if this is right or wrong and that is what im trying to figure out. then i aerate from 930pm to 630am, my thinking there is those are the coolest hours of the night and i want to circulate the water then. my pond is .6 acres and averages 5.5' deep. my aerator is a 3/4hp compressor and 2 diffuser stones, one toward each end of the pond. I have noticed no difference in the pond but its only been a couple of weeks, is my thinking on track? thanks in advance

Keeping the O2 supply ahead of the demand can be a balancing act in summer months.Your thinking is ontrack as long as the supply stays ahead of demand.Not knowing if this is an older,high organic, high carrying capacity pond which would be factors to consider.

We have been having thunderstorms a few times a week, does a 2 hour thunderstorm = 2 hours of aeration. I would think it adds plenty of oxygen but does not circulate the water from top to bottom. Any thoughts?
