Hello,
MY dad just bought a 50 acre lake recently adn I want to get some minnows to raise for myself to use as baits. I have a big water trough I am going to put these in. They are going to e outide but I can not feed them because I will not live with them . They will be next to the lake. I would liek to know if they will eat the algae of the bottom of the trough or do I need to feed them? Also I need to get an aerator( I think) so do you know of some good ones( maybe solar power if made)? And other supplies I will need to raise these minnows?
Thanks RObert

Fatheads lay eggs on the bottom of rocks, bricks, logs, ect.
So make sure there are places for them to spawn in your trough.
Otherwise they should find enough natural food outside.
If you want to supplemental feed them fathead minnows will eat regular goldfish pellet foods.
