Pond Boss Forums INTRO Questions & Observations Texoma on the Fly - Saturday, June 19

I would like to invite our N. Texas and S. Oklahoma PB friends to attend a special event sponsored by Texas Parks and Wildlife and the Red River Fly Fishers Saturday June 19th at Eisenhower State Park on Lake Texoma.

The informal program will include casting lessons, fly tying, fly fishing classes, and youth programs.
Additional youth opportunities will be offered this year. The TP&W youth fly-fishing class will be offered and a catfish pond will be available to fish.

The youth program is of special interest to me to encourage youngsters to participate in outdoor activities. There will be special prizes for the kids and a very special young teenage Certified Casting Instructor in attendance.

The event and the entrance to the park are free. Fishing from within the park is also free.

Personal Note to my PB friends:
This will be my first trip away from home since surgery and hospitalization April 13th, with many bumps in the road due to surgery complications. I thought I was home free but emergency sent me back for surgery this week but I’ll make the Texoma event or bust a gut.

I have been AWOL on the forum about this stuff because I’m not into self-pity or complaining – but I’ve beat this cancer thing again so far – no cells detected.

Sure would like to see old PB friends and meet new ones if any can make the Texoma event.

Good to hear you are up and about! I wish that I was closer as well. I'll send this to Ron and maybe he'll poke his head in. If he tells me that he is planning on attending, I'll let you know.

I'd love to make that event, George. Finishing a road trip that day and the Queen's high school class reunion is that evening. If I can get home early enough, I'll swing by. Won't know until Thursday.

Hope you can make it Bob - my stay will be limited to a couple or so hours in the morning session if possible - two steps forward and one step backward - one day at a time.

Very informal sessions - some of the locals have asked me to talk about "the old Texoma glory days" so I put together a slide show beginning with photos from the early 80's - interesting - don't recognize that "younster" in the pics.

You'll recognize some of my favorite spots - one picture of a trophy striper caught in Walnut Creek, almost in your backyard...

boy, now that's an adventure that's worth posting about twice! Sounds like an amazing trip! I hope you are planning to take a lot of pictures and to share them with us on your return. Sounds like a great story in the making, there!

Doc, I was thinking about you when I made the post, knowing your passion for fly fishing.

Well, I am taking my camera and will post something if it is worth posting- i.e., my photography skills are not highly reliable.
