Yesterday I had Jones fish drop off 30 gallons of fatheads for my walleye pond and I asked the guy what he thought happened to my HBG and LMB in a different pond-He really didnt have an answer-he said it didnt look good. Once again any help would be appreciated-here is what I know
1. Pond was stocked two years ago with 200 HBG and 50 LMB.
2. Last year caught approx 100 HBG and then restocked another 100 to keep balance. Also caught about 10 bass but didnt restock any LMB
3. Also put in 200 perch last year
4. Only had about 10 fish kill 1st year
5. Last winter had about 10 HBG kill and 5 bass kill during ice off
6. Been fishing 3 x this year and have only caught YP-not one bass or HBG
7. When I feed there is ALOT of aggressive activity on the pond-with lots of splashing-alot like my HBG from last year
8. Tons of tadpoles in pond with frogs-jones fish guy said this was not a good sign for bass because they would have been feeding on them

If I had a massive fish kill wouldnt more have floated to the top?? If I had a massive fish kill wouldnt they have killed the perch also-not just HBG and LMB?? Some one please give me some advice or at least specualation on what might have happened??
Thanks,
Dave

I don't think you have to worry about a large fishkill. You would have seen more dead fish. How have you been fishing for the fish? They do wise up to your fishing habits. I know that I have more (and larger) fish in the pond than I am catching.

If you want to see what's eating the pellets, go here and order some. When they come in, rig up your Ultralight spinning rod with 2# or 4# test line, a #10 short shank hook, and a small bobber that is no larger than 1" in diameter. Place the bobber 18" to 24" above the hook. Don't use any weight. Toss it out there 10 minutes before the feeder goes off and start sampling the fish.

When fish have lots of natural forage, they get harder to catch too.

Have you fished with live bait (Shiners, fatheads, worms, maggots, etc.)?

Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:"
"She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."
