Hi.

Fed-ex just dropped off the windmill from OWS, so the fun will be starting shortly. I was looking over the site from OWS and they also sell a bucket to place the airstone in to keep it from sinking in the mud. This seems like a great idea, and I have my own 5 gallon bucket I can use for this purpose.

I was wondering if anyone has done this with their airstone, and are there any downsides to doing this I am not thinking about?

I just installed a 20' tower from OWS last month - a little tricky getting started with their directions, but once you get going, it's not too bad.
Anyway, I purchased a small bucket at Tractor supply for about $4 that fit my stones perfectly. If you don't have a tractor supply, any feed store will carry all size buckets for cheap. I thought a 5-gallon one was a big large. For a float to mark my stone, I'm using a small boat bumper ($8 at wal-mart) to mark mine. Not the prettiest to look at, but very functional and durable.

I too have put my air stones in a 5 gal pal weighted with few large stones. Nothing special about the pals, but I do like having handles on them to tie markers to. I use duck decoys as air stone markers. Looks good on the pond and the decoys have lasted over 2 years now,
