We have had a pond of about 2 acres and will have it stocked in about two weeks with BG, LMB, CC, Hybrid Black Crappie, redear and minnows.
We have added structure, but want to add more.
Since the pond is brand new, should I consider feeding with commercial fish food to be sure they have plenty to eat?

Are there any fish in there now?
How many minnows are you stocking and what kind are they?
Also, what will be the size of the BG, LMB, CC, and HBC that you are stocking?
Sorry for the questions, but I'm sure someone will ask!

How long has it been full?

I am stocking around 1000 BG, 300 redear, 200 hybrid crappie, 200 catfish, 200 LMB fingerlings and 25 pounds of minnows. All the stocked fish will be between 1-3 inches in size with the exception of the ctfish which will be around 3-5 inches.
The pond has had water in it for at least 4 or 5 months and, with all-time record rains in October, is full. The water was muddy, but is clearing up pretty well.

I would try feeding and see if any of them take it. DOn't worry if they don't - 4-5 months (during good, warm weather) of volunteer invertebrates can provide quite a bit of food for fingerlings.

Please let us know how they do - sounds like a great experiment and we all need to know more about the HBC role in pond management.
