I am planning on buying recreational land and also plan on building a 5-10 acre pond on it. Here are my ideas of when to stock the fish on what i have learned and feel what would work. After pond is fully built i will let it sit so all the silt and everything can settle, check for any problems like leaks, mud problems, ect... Now the fun begins! First going to add small stuff like tadpoles, newts, some plants gambusa minnows and maybe fertilize Stock FHM and craws let them adjust and spawn then Stock CNB and golden shiners and threadfin shad After them stock my Precious bass. I plan on letting the forage fish spawn and up their numbers then slowly add on predators so the forage fish get more numerous and larger so the next predators can do the same. I will let the frogs, plants, maybe snails, gambusa minnows and newts sit for a while then add the FHM with craws let them sit for a while then add CNB and goldenshiners theyll sit half of what all the theres did then add bass so the CNB dont get too large and kill the bass. WHOOO thats alot just tell me what you feel if you even feel like reading that much

yea im planning on the stocking and have it basically done now i have to find the perfect property. Im in no rush considering the economy so i will just adjust my fish stocking plans over and over and over so its all perfect. Just want to make sure the bass will have enough food so they dont stunt and can get to large sizes

What are your goals for this pond? Large bass, trophy bass, balanced fishery, trophy sunfish etc... Once we know your goals, then we can give you a better plan.

Hey Fishkeeper1 have you ever considered multiple ponds instead of one large one. While at Lusk Lodge last year I realized the value of multiple ponds. You could have one pond be a LMB/CNBG pond and a second pond be something completely different. Bob has done this and within a short walking distance you can have very different fishing experiences. Just a thought (jeffhasathought).

i want a trophy bass fishery mainly. I dont really care for sunfish fishing because there too easy IMO. And I dont really want multiple ponds i was thinking about it but will do one project at a time. Thinking about a SMB pond and CC pond aswell as a CNB pond but dont have the $$$ for all that right now.

Fishkeeper1: Have you read "Perfect Pond - Want One" by Bob Lusk yet. The best place to start. Pond Boss sells it, and it is even available on Amazon.com. "Raising Trophy Bass" would be next. http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0...44988944&sr=8-1http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0...44989096&sr=1-1Bing
