how big does a pond have to be for tshad and can you transpor them from another lake like lake ray roberts.

Any size if you restock yearly and have some amount of a plankton bloom growing. You can transport some baitfish as long as it is not for resale. Threadfin shad are quite tricky to transport, transport a very small number unless you are really good. Reproduction is really high under the right circumstances.

Now is the time to try and get the shad because they will spawn in Ray Roberts or Texoma this month.

Shad can definately spawn in a 0.5 to 1 acre pond.

Transporting tshad is not an easy process... A round transport container, provide a lot of aeration, keep the water cool, and put salt into the transport water. If the pond has no predators in it currently, just a couple dozen adult tshad may be all it takes to get a population started in a new pond.
