So yesterday was 65 degrees in Southern Pa. The Ice was completely melted the day the day before. I figured I would throw a nightcrawler in and catch a small bass or bluegill on my light rod. Of course I hook the big bass. She is maybe 5lbs and the line breaks. It was a small size 8 hook. Do you think the fish will make it? This bummed me out yesterday.

If I had to guess, she will make it.
Hooks in the mouth don't seem to mess them up too bad.
Now if you gullet hooked here, it may reduce her chances, but with a small hook, she still fares to make it.

As long as you didn't rip gills or tear a big hole on her stomach she'll be fine. Especially with a small hook like that. It will rust out in no time!
