Hey all - Took my son up to the pond today. I wanted to teach him how to flyfish and knew the Bluegills in the new pond would be willing subjects.   The pond is about 1/2 acre - we had released about 200 bluegills in July & August from about 2"-6" and have been watching them all summer. I was reading some back posts on this board last night, and noticed one where someone said that BG will nest several times over the summer. And until them, it hadn't occured to me that some of these stocked BG might spawn (they came from another closeby pond). Well sure enough, careful looking in the shallows - and we found pods of dozen BG Fry 1/2 long. I was surprised, and encouraged, hope they make it in the winter? I thought we had to wait till Next Spring for any fry. I'm surprised I didn't see any nesting! Sorry no Fry Pics - I could barely see them unless they were moving. Next spring we will be stocking enough LMB - to keep the BG in check, our goal for this pond is some outsized BG -and enough LMB to be fun to catch. Thanks for looking F-H

Great looking BG. I think it was DIED that documented three different YOY age class BG in his pond.
Oh and leave a Led Zepplin cd laying around. If the kid is gonna discover rock music then let him discover a legend.

F-H, if you want mess with your son take him to Walmart. I was there the other day and they had a display box with every AC/DC album every made. Cd's of course.

My son's newest thing is Guitar Hero Aerosmith -
I asked him if "my big 10 inch" was on there - and he didn't know what I was talking about! I told him its probably a Bonus track - that needs to be unlocked.
Funny stuff - but honestly - with all the distractions today - It seems like fishing and hunting are harder to pass on. I'm doing my best, but sometimes wonder.......
