I recently enlarged my pond to 2/3 acres. It has a bed and banks completly of the stickiest clay you can imagine. It is 12 feet deep in a couple of areas. It is pretty sterile as far as plant life goes. I lose about 10" in the summer to evaporation. I sunk a couple piles of pallets for cover in two spots. They are about 4' below the surface in about 8' of water. I put in a primitive aireator of pipe with holes fed by a compresser in the deepest part of the pond. I intend to put in 6 sturgeon from the Columbia river about 2' long and feed them chicken guts. It is fed by rain and runoff only.(no creek or spring) I need to get some input on the fish that would do best and how to feed them since it is so sterile. I can catch bass and bluegill but am interested in hybrids(if I can get them here?)Any input would be appreciated. Chuck6565

Your sturgeon will eat any smaller fish you put in there.

I though sturgeon ate dead fish. I doubt that they are physicaly capable of biting a live fish.

A big sturgeon can definitely munch on live small fish.
Since he is talking about Columbia River sturgeon he is talking about giant white and green sturgeons.
