ok so i went fishing for some cats last night and did pretty well i caught five in the 15 pound range. they were a little skinny. my question is as the sun was going down and it was starting to get dark the cats were roaming on the top of the water like they were eating floating pellets. the cats have never been feed before and i have never seen catfish do this. does anybody have any idea to what was happening.

Catfish feed mostly at night...I have seen this on a pond that did not have much forage for the fish to eat..

i know they feed better at night. i just have never seen them skimming the tope of water like they were doing unless they were eating pellets or feed.

Maybe some type of insect hatch, but it is kind of hard to imagine a big catfish going after a insect unless they were overly abundant.
