I was just woundering how a pond that is fished alot how does this effect the growth of LMB ? I have been stocking 2 to 9 lb bass and about 1700 bg in the 2 to 10 inch range . The spawn has been great i see tons of new BG and see good schools of LMB fry patrolling the banks. But i am trying to raise and manage the biggest LMB i can.

But my problem is that i have been teaching kids how to fish and they are fishing the pond all the time everyday. I try to tell them there are 4 other ponds in the area with fish as well. I guess i shouldnt complain i tought them and they all have become pretty good. Better than playing the playstation or looking for that easy button for everything.

The LMB fry seem to be growing fast spawn time was early here cause it got so warm early on here. They seem to be around 3 inches already . How fast do LMB fry grow in one year? Thanx for your help and time.

I get 7"-8" long LMB a year after they are spawned, farther North and in a bass-crowded pond. IIRC in the gulf states they can do 12" in a year. So 10" might be a reasonable guess for SC. Greg Grimes should have an excellent idea.

Amen to that.

Have them fish for those 1700 BG. More targets and much lower impact on your bass.

And remember, you're not just raising champion bass, you're raising champion kids!

Yeah i ruined it when i caught a 10 lb bass in my pond. Now everyone want to catch that poor Bass. All the LMB that i stocked are doin so well. All have came from different ponds. No more than 10 LMB per pond or lake went into my pond. I thought i would do this for better genetics? But all are gaining crazy weight and all but one or two seem to be slaim and not fat. Thanx for the reply and have a good one.
