Pond Boss Forums STOCKING A NEW POND Creating the food chain CNBG FOR A 1 ACRE POND?

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY . IF YOUR GOAL IS TO RAISE TROPHY SIZE BASS IN A 1 ACRE POND , WHAT WOULD BE THE MAX NUMBER OF 4-6 INCH CNBG YOU SHOULD STOCK, WITHOUT OVERPOPULATING.I WANT FAT BASS, ALMOST FOOTBALL LIKE!!! ALSO WHAT IS THE AVG NUMBER OF BASS RATIO TO THIS ANSWER?

I am not sure of the stocking rate, but if you are going to be feeding, it can be much higher. I don't think 400-500 would be too many. Another thing to consider is adding 50 pounds of tilapia to your pond every spring. They breed like crazy and your bass actually prefer them over CNB due to body shape. They will die off when the water gets below 50-60 degrees, so you will need to restock each spring.

any more taker`s? when and how often will tilipia spawn? is it too late too stock tilipia? do you have to clean them up after they die off ,meaning wil there be dangerous amonia level`s after all that death?

From what I have read, they have a rolling spawn where some are constantly laying eggs. As far as the dead fish go, when the water cools off, they slow up before they die which makes them food for something bigger. If you have some that are too big for the fish in the pond, that is where the turtles, coons, etc. take over. I read a post here about a guy who stocked the tilapia and had only 2 floaters when it got cold. The rest were consumed.
