I am going to Alabama to pick up my Tilapia the first week of June. I was thinking of getting 10lbs but the fish man said I need at least 30lbs. These are supose to be big fish 1lb or so. The only preditor fish in the pond so far are 10-12in Hsb. I will also be picking up some F1 bass on the way home with the tilapia but they will be small. I want the tilapia to provide some extra forage, but I really want them to clean up the slimey algae around the pond. What do ya think?

Depends on how big your pond is. Mine is 1 acre and i put in 30lbs

10lbs should be adequate if you have good forage. If your pond is bass heavy 30lbs per acre is good. IMO

What kind of Tilapia John? A one pound Blue tilapia will have 6" bass for a snack.

If I wanted to put some Tilapia into my 35 acre lake, would it only make sense to stock 10lbs/acre (350lbs)? Would any amount of Tilapia be of some benefit?
Was thinking about starting out with 60 or so pounds of adult Moz. Tilapia, but does that do anything for me if that is all I put in?? Just assumed the adult population would not be eaten by the LMB and would be able to add some forage fish...

At this time of year, you probably won't be able to get small tilapia. The ones you get will be ready to start spawning now.
What part of Texas are you in?

I'm near Carthage, Tx...there is a place nearby that has some that are ~8" or so...

I would say that anything you put in would help out your bass forage situation. Tilapia are very prolific breeders. They also taste pretty good at the end of the growing season. You can seine out some of the bigger ones and filet them out. You just need to make sure you do it before the water temperature gets to the 60 degree level where they start to die off. They fry up real nice.

I'm further south but I stocked 100 adults in my 25ac lake an in 18 months I had thousands. 60lbs would definitely help. If they might overwinter I wouldn't put to many in that way they can be controlled a little easier.
