I am a new member and new to the ponding expierience. I have a new pond that is about 1 acre or smaller. It is also 20 ft deep. The tank has already been stocked with about 150 1 pound cat fish. My goal is to be able to catch lots big bass. I need to know how many (and type) of bluegill, minnows, and bass I need to stock. I also want to know when the best time to stock each species, and at what size I should stock them. Thanks for any suggestions.

If you stocked the catfish that size before putting anything else in I think you jumped the gun a little. You should have put your forage fish in i.e. bluegills first to allow then to reproduce. And any bass fingerlings you put in now could be catfish forage. Your catfish will also be competing with you bass. Personally if you want a good bass pond I question why you put catfish in.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

criggins - Read up all about catfish by searching the headings using the word catfish. You will get a lot of info about cats. FYI: A five pound catfish eats more fish than a five pound bass! True. Cats are night predators and bass are day predators. Prey fish are chased all hours of the day.

Proubly the only way to stock other fish in your pond is to put adult bluegill and bass in. also you would need to feed your catfish pellets to keep the full for a while. You would proubly also need to but tons of fatheads and shinners to keep the bass from eating your gills so much. Even better would to buy adult feed trained bass.
