I have a 4.7 acre pond that just filled with water. Iplan to stock it this spring. My question is should I put bait fish in only at first then wait awhile before puting in Bass, catfish & bluegill. Or can I put in both prey and baby predetors at the same time.

That is a very simple question but unfortunately it has a very complex answer. Yes you start by putting in fatheads, bluegill, and catfish and then later bass. But you also need to decide what you want out of your pond--lots of easy to catch bass?, huge bass?, huge bluegill?, pet catfish to feed?, etc... Read this site and order the magazine and you will find there is a lot of information to help you make those decisions.
The basics are all here but if you don't want to do a whole lot of reading, you can order Bob Lusk's book "Basics of Pond Management". I'tll give you stocking rates and tips on starting your pond. Good luck!

Congratulations on new pond - we are beginning our third year on our new pond - like said, learn all you can from this great board and Bob's book -also the Texas Chapter of American Fisherie Society has good info.
Your big investment behind you, keep your checkbood handy - stockers - aeration - feeders - feed - chemicals - etc...... ;>)
