Hi, guys. I haven't posted here in quite a while as I thought we had a leak and kind of missed our bass stocking last year. It's looking pretty good now so I'm going to do that this spring. The BGs, minnows and catfish are doing very well. The pond will be 11 feet deep when full. It filled up half way on it's own the first last winter and we stocked last spring. Then we had the TN drought and water dropped to about 4 feet. Now it's up to 7 feet.
My question is about all the running water I have on my place. I have a drainage we call a creek. It's fed from some surrounding hills and wet weather springs that run 7 or 8 months out of the year. It runs by the pond so I'm wondering if anybody knows much about ram pumps and/or electric pumps I could use to move some water over the berm? It would need to run at a 45 degree angle and top out at maybe 15 feet high (from creek level).
Is there a ram that can simply sit in the creek and be self powered? I know nothing about them but a friend mentioned them to me. My county extension folks were lacking any knowledge about them as well.
If a ram is not the answer then what sort of electric pump could I used from say Home Depot or Lowes?

Welcome aboard.Just about any TRASHpump will do.Just remember the golden rule...water pumps do excactly that,pump,their not made to pull.Figure how much water you want to move and then you can check the specs on pumps.

Is TRASH a brand? Are you talking electric or a ram type? I've pulled some stunts but I've never pulled water so i guess i don't know what you mean there.

No,a trash pump can be gas or electric.It has a suction hose on the inlet and a discharge on the outlet.You can push water a lot farther than you can pull it.Some pumps can handle trash(silt,dirt,small rocks etc)and are called trash pumps.Have you searched water pumps on the net?Probably learn everything you need that way.sending you a P M
