Posted By: MikeC Anybody ship feed trained Northern Largemouth? - 10/05/09 01:11 AM
I'd like to grow a couple out in my aquarium this winter. I did it last year and it worked well. The guy I bought them from last year is not returning my calls. I am afraid he may have gone out of business.
Jones has had feed trained N. LMB in the past and they do ship... Maybe give them a call?
Do you have a website for them?

I've purchased fish from them before and have been satisfied, but I've never had them ship fish to me, they've always delivered.

Jones
MikeC - the guy that sold fish last year my just be real busy this time of year. Try calling at early - late hours depending on where the phone rings.
For Jones use: jonesfish.com
Bill, I disagree. If I leave a couple of messages with a vendor and they do not return my call then I will seek product elsewhere. We are all busy at times but no excuse in business to not return calls of potential customer.

Mike if we iron out air frieght deal I will let you know. Don't hold your breath I have talked abotu that for years. Getting feed trained northerns possibly as early as next week.
I was actually able to get in touch with him. I shot him an email and he replied. It looks like I am gonna get some next week.
Good deal glad you got in contact. A good local fish guy is worth keeping.
Greg, if every fish source was the same as you, the world might be a different place.

Sometimes, you have to put up with some BS to get what you want.

I'm not saying it's right, but sometimes...

On a side note, sending emails is not the same as calling on the phone.
Yes emails are easy and sometimes I gt folks saying I did nto return an email but I never got them either, so.... Never use just one method some work better on email some on phone.

I make it dang important to call everyone back even if it is to say we are busy and can't get to the pond for a week or so.

If I call and/or email a business a couple of times with no return. I move on to my next option. They do not want my business the way I look at it.
Fish suppliers around DIED and I don't have email, won't return calls and if you're lucky enough to get them to answer the phone they will tell you "I'm busy now, give me you're name and number and I'll call you back" then the won't call you back. I don't know how they manage to stay in business. You have to full on hound them to be able to get any fish. The one guy that DIED and I did get fish from is going out of business. Count yourself lucky to have a good fish supplier.
Jeff that sounds like to me a business opportunity. I can't stand to hear that poor customer service. He is probably out of business due to that. I have thought about retiring to No. Cal so seems like even better plan now. \:\)
What I don't know is how many people in Northern California actively manage their ponds. There are quite a few ponds around my property in Northern California. Two within a mile or two. One is fairly good sized, probably 10 acres that I know is not managed. Another that is about 5 acres and I don't know if it is managed or not.
Greg, you aren't going anywhere that the Grandkids aren't at. Right now you don't know it but someday Wendy will explain it to you.

Dang RT that would be less than $1 per mile! Can I hire you?
I received 75 4-6" IIRC Northern LMB two years ago from Jones and the majority of them have taken to pellets. I did not specify "feed-trained" at the time, didnt know about PB yet, the majority say 60/40 have taken to it.

The fish were delivered, took 2-3 weeks for delivery.

At first there were 3-4 fish taking feed daily then the others learned by example, Aquamax made a big difference too. The one's that take the feed are roughly 50-70% larger at this stage in the game.
