Are there generalities/common observations at what depth thermoclines will form in small ponds?

Interesting question, Errick, and one to which I don't know the answer. I believe a thermocline will be affected by a host of variable, though, such as surface action, depth of any surface action disturbance, clarity of water, depth of the pond, and probably several others. One of those classic Pond Boss Forum "it depends" answers.

Errick Define small? It really does "all depend" but absent moving water normally 6-12'. A good sonar or temp probe will tell you exactly when and where it sets up, definately valuable info for fishing purposes.
