I'm seeking advice on chemicals that will control woody growth, weeds, poison ivy, etc on the banks of my newly constructed pond in areas that I cannot mow. I've been told that 2-4-D will work and not harm fish. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Terrestrial treatments of 2,4-D 4# Amine shouldn't pose a threat to your fish and will control a wide spectrum of broadleaf and woody plants - but maybe not all of the species inhabiting your area, and NO grassy species.
An applicators license is required to purchase such products in TX, but maybe not in GA.
You might try the 2,4-D initially, either as a basal or foliar application, while being cautious not to drift the spray onto desirable vegetation and trees. Grasses should not be impacted, the survival of which should help minimize the erosion of your pond embankment.
