Effective 10-24-06, Federal Order has been issued by USDA APHIS under the Animal Health Protection Act to prevent the spread of viral hemorrhagic septicemia. Th eOrder prohibits all movement of live fish of these species from the prohibited areas.

Effective immediately, the importation of certain species of live fish into the United STates from the Canadian Provinces of Ontario and Quebec is prohibited. The Administrator may also designate other countries or portions thereof as prohibited areas under this order. Thereafter, the importation into the United States of any regulated species of live fish as specified from an area designated as a prohibited area will be subject to this Order.

The following states are designated as prohibited domestic areas: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
