I know you've heard it before, but in my experience nothing catches fed BG like a Stubby Steve. Also LMB and HSB!
Trout love them too, if you have any during the winter. But trout are much more careful to look things over before biting, takes a tiny covered hook on ultra light fluorocarbon line to fool them. They would charge madly for my Stubby Steve on 4lb mono, then halt abruptly a few inches from the bait. Other fish had no such hesitation!
I am interested but unfamiliar with the lure you are talking about. I did a search for Stubby Steve's and there's a number of baits on the site. There is a variety of colors of a pellet type bait/lure that requires your own hook. Is that what you are talking about?
Sounds right. It is designed to look, smell, sink, and taste like a food pellet. You tear off a pellet sized piece, squeeze it on the hook.
