nehunter, I'm pretty sure it was the combo of B/G algae and then sliding into the 95 degree plus surface summer water temps. I did have a biologist on site. My big pond's really shallow, and there was probably no where to retreat, and the HSB were struggling since late spring. The HSB that floated up looked pretty rough, and my WAG is that it was the last survivor. I had a couple of small HSB coming to food last month, then none since then.

My 2021 plan is to start from scratch with the pond water, make sure I get all the numbers good, then reaccess my fish plans. It's all about the water.

John, you're right, we do push our ponds. It's just the gamble we take.
