A comment about cinder blocks and using them to weight down cedars. I have found if you ask a local manufacture or supplier about their “bone yard of blocks”, you can usually have them for free or they will deliver for a small charge. It is easier for them to give them away than dispose of them. The big box guys don’t have left overs or bad blocks. Also, I have been using 36” zip ties, rated at 175 lbs, to secure blocks to trees. A 1” wood drill bit hole through trunk, slip a zip tie through hole and around cell of block. Done!
