Firstly I would be checking with the fellow Texan Pond Forum members how well their SMB have survived in the TX climate especially in smaller ponds that lack depth. Those Texans with poor SMB raising success were Chris Steelman and our mentor BobLusk. Maybe one of these guys will update us about their experience with Texas SMB? Based on your interview results your efforts may be better focused on HSB or LMB. SMB tolerate the heat however they need constant amounts of high DO. I raised some in a pond that developed 90F water.
