Here in Texas, if we find a pond has gone dry it is usually due to two different possibilities. The pond leaks or the pond is too shallow and dry's up during droughts. Neither is good. For now, I might keep an eye on it and see if I could determine a leak and where that leak might be. Either situation might require some excavating. Best wishes for your new pond.
