Noel, I've heard several people joke about the Great Plains states being boring, but I was pleasantly surprised when I passed through Missouri and Kansas. Missouri (at least the parts I've seen) has more rolling hills and nice scenery than I imagined it would, and for me as an East Coast guy, Kansas landscapes looked like another world (knobby hills, ravines, grasslands, being able to see so far, windmills, and of course the friendly hawks that are always sitting on a fence post to greet you right at the border (those hawks that are so loyal to their state, they never seem to cross the border into Missouri or Colorado haha)).
