New ponds take an unusual amount of water. Depending on the soil and compaction factor, they soak up a lot of water initially.
The couple thousand gallons that's in there now doesn't appear to be going anywhere. I guess all clay helps. We tried the sheeps foot but it kept getting clogged so we stopped using it a 3rd of the way.
