Yes the 22 LR will skip.

If it was me looking for a utility gun it would be the 22 mag with the 10-22 clip bolt action open sites. You can slip the clip in and out with ease. The open site keep dirt of any scope lenses. It is big enough to take out a coyote and I expect any gator too.

If I was going to get a varmint gun to get the job done over and over that will last for many good years.

This would be the one.
