I fished at private pond in Montana back in 2011 that was stocked with rainbows and brookies. We were there in January and there was over 18" of ice on the pond at that time - the place was incredible. Very active and lively fish for a relatively small (2 acre) dammed creek. They ran no aeration. There were a ton of fun to catch and a nice alternative to the norm around here
