I practice by taking a single shot at a target each day with the bow. Everyone I know can outshoot me at target with multi-shot groups but I have way more trophy antlers hanging on the wall. I shoot a single shot before each season with the 44 at a hundred yards and make sure my scope is on. My biggest trophies were taken with a bow at 5 yards, and with a gun at 20 yards. I have always been lucky hunting though. Pressure has always made me perform above my skill level. Took 3 in rapid succession with the bolt-action out of a herd of 4 at 80 yards last year, but that was due to frustration from noisy neighbors with atv's. Put me out of business till late archery due to limits so was really not a plus for me.
