I have the same problem as Beretta in this post

I have resisted putting chemicals in my pond but it seams i need to do something, so have a two part question here.

A reply to the post from Bill Cody says, "I would choose an algaecide that matches or corresponds to the goals for your pond. Some prefer copper based algaecides while others prefer a hydrogen peroxide..."

Why would i chose one over the other? I remember checking the PH of my pond and it was quite high. Will copper sulfate be effective?

Is it safe to eat the fish from my pond if it is treated with Cutrine Plus or Green Clean Pro ?

3/4 acre pond 10 max debth
midwest Ohio
pond neglected for years
2013, installed aerator system running 12hrs at night
lots of vegetation around pond
Thank you
Adam
