Many thanks for the help. I have something like the green flat top one in the attached picture. Probably the rat guard with spikes is the thing I'll try next but I was thinking of something easy to push in and pull out without requiring my drill and screws. Maybe one of those aluminum mesh that they would wad up and put in the downspout of your gutter to prevent leaves going down that you push in and pull out?
